Departure and arrival
The plane departed at 9.00 in the morning from the infamous "Belgium" to the very cold Finland. There will be about 13 students participating in the workshop this year, 9 finnish and 4 foreign students, one of which is Dennis, a first masters in St. Lucas Antwerp.
The workshop theme will be dealing with "Intelligence": how can intelligence (AI, ...) be incorporated into typefaces or the reproduction of text, how can text create itself, how can essential keywords be filtered from texts, ... these are just some ideas, it's basically up to the students to come up with their own ideas.
The workshop will deal with a mixture of FontLab, DrawBot, Processing and Macromedia Director, apart from a highly conceptual approach on how to create a typeface.
We've been asked to give a presentation tomorrow. So far, the topics include: * Bart Bloemen's Frank * Archetype * AdLib * Kant Generator * Ottobot * WordNet * Pixie * Keywords * Prism * Champ d'Action Font * Dryade Font * Association font (archetype) * Text spirals (example on the processing.org site) * Ben Fry's text cloud * Ben Fry's Anemone
