About
A meme is unit of culture that jumps from head to head.
In this way, memes are the cultural equivalent of biological genes.
This is a live report site on a typography and media workshop. The workshop is held at the Department of Graphic Design at the Institute of Design at Lahti Polytechnic in Finland, from thursday 8 until friday 16 february 2007.
The workshop is held by three teachers/researches from Sint Lucas in Antwerp: Lucas Nijs, Frederik De Bleser and Tom De Smedt (all from Sint Lucas, Antwerp)
Throughout the workshop, we’ll be using mainly FontLab and NodeBox to work out ideas.
For older workshops, use the links at the top, or visit www.designlooksnice.com.
The Assignment
Design, create, choose a meme. Analyse this meme on every aspect of the characteristics of a typeface. Make a mindmap or network maps of these characteristics and all other related aspects of the meme. See the tools available on the student page. Create a typeface with FontLab and/or a system with NodeBox that communicates your meme. Use your page on the wiki to show your design process.
Presentation with the wiki and NodeBox!
